NOTES

1.       Colorado Secretary of State, Elections Division. U.S. Inc. contributions to Defend Colorado Now: $500.00 (March 9, 2005), $5000.00 (December 12, 2005), $42,500.00 (January 5, 2006).

2.       In a memo dated October 10, 1986 from John Tanton to attendees of the WITAN IV conference. WITAN is an Old English word referring to “wise men” who give advice to the king. The conference was part of series of meetings held during the height of an English only campaign in Arizona and the memo was leaked by participants who considered Tanton’s ideas to be extreme and his wording insensitive.

3.       Ibid

4.       Lutton’s Journal of Historical Review articles have been written on the pen name Charles C. Lutton, including numerous book reviews. Lutton’s reviews and articles consistently lean toward recasting the apportionment of guilt for the First and Second World Wars less on the part of the Germans and more on the British and Americans. Though there is surely enough guilt to go around for the events surrounding both World Wars, Lutton seems completely unconcerned with the fact that his reflections on the power politics of the Allies are surrounded by articles specifically devoted to denying or minimizing the Holocaust.
